Position Purpose This position is accountable to perform clerical duties, act as unit receptionist, coordinate unit/patient activities with other departments via proper use of the computer and telephone, and maintain an orderly and efficient nursing station.

Nature and Scope This position has internal contact daily with personnel from all departments for the purpose of assisting with unit patient flow and requisitioning medical supplies. This position also has contact with physicians, nurses, visitors and patients.

This position is further challenged to maintain accuracy in transcribing orders complicated by difficulty in reading the physician's orders; communicate effectively with different types of people; function efficiently under pressure and stress and be able to identify and maintain priorities; respond to simultaneous requests from many people and remain courteous and tactful.

The incumbent assists in procedures to facilitate the proper documentation of the patient care systems from admission through discharge. This position is responsible for the maintenance of unit supplies and interdepartmental communication.

When necessary, will sit with patients on Suicide/Behavioral watch to prevent harm to themselves or others.

This position does not provide patient care.

High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience: Prior receptionist skills preferred License(s): None Certification(s): None Computer / Typing: Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
