The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound freight (warehouse transfers and vendor direct) as well as routing of shipments to customers in a timely and efficient manner. This role also coordinates and prepares "Will Call" orders, performs order entry to confirm invoiced shipments and unloads, inspects and receives product into internal systems and labels product appropriately. The selected individual will properly classify product, ensure product locations match with operating systems and will accurately complete shipping documents, bills of lading, airway bills and shipper's letters of instruction. Additionally, the Shipping and Receiving Clerk will operate cherry pickers and/or "reach" trucks to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise as well as pull product for pick-up or shipment. Hand-held, radio-frequency equipment is utilized to inventory product added to or leaving a stocking location.





POSITION SUMMARY:

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:



+ Receiving/Put-Away:


+ Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations.


+ Efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate areas.




+ Quality:


+ Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.


+ Report quality variances.




+ Order Picking:


+ Operate cherry pickers and/or "reach" trucks to pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped.


+ Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards.




+ Loading:


+ Efficiently and safely move product from staging and/or storage areas into trailers or onto truck beds.




+ Equipment:


+ Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, cherry picker or "reach" truck or other power equipment.


+ Use hand-held, radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving, put-away, and loading.


+ Maintain the facility's equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.


+ Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.




+ Inventory:


+ Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained.


+ Assist in physical inventories.


+ Ensure proper stock rotation.




+ Safety, Cleanliness, Security:


+ Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.


+ Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.


+ Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety.




+ Maintenance:


+ Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:


< >High School degree or equivalent preferred. Experience: 6 months of prior warehousing experience required, preferably in a high-volume environment. Must be willing and able to work a 1st (Day) or 2nd (Evening) shift.Familiarity with material handling and use of hand-held, radio frequency equipment is needed.Display capability for solving practical problems and issues in an efficient and productive manner. Strong verbal, written and conversational skills required. Must demonstrate prior experience in establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships with co-workers, management staff, drivers and customers. Proficient in the basic use and operation of phones, fax machines, high-speed copiers, desk-top computers, email and the internet. Must be able to read, write, speak and converse in fluent English. Forklift Certification required. Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program. Must comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards as well as Watts Safety guidelines.Must be able to handle stress Must be able to work in a fast-paced and busy environment.Must be able to work additional hours when workload or business activity requires. Some weekend required. Must be able to come to work on time and work the entire work day (attendance is required). Prior experience operating a cherry-picker and/or "reach" trucks preferred. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
